About The Collection

The Robert Meyer Collection is a private photo historic collection, by large a picture collection, an extensive research library including waste archives and documentation. The collection embraces the whole period of photography, with emphasis on Norwegian and Nordic photography. The original intention was to unveil the birth and growth of photography, focusing on the aesthetic, social and cultural sides. The collection, which counts more than 8.000 pieces, has been presented through various exhibitions, and several Nordic institutions have to borrow images from the collection for their own exhibition projects. The Exhibition �The Forgotten Tradition�, which celebrated the 150th anniversary, was shown in six cities around in Norway, starting in Oslo Art Association in 1989.
